In this edition of “Small Business Breakthroughs” Ohio SBDC Director Michael Bowers will talk with Kim Knights, CEO of the Columbus Empowerment Corporation.

What will be discussed:

  • Issues small business owners tend to miss as they grow
  • Recommendations for small business owners to succeed
  • What are some common issues faced by minority and specifically Black owned businesses as they seek to launch and grow?
  • How has the small business ecosystem in Columbus evolved for Black owned businesses?
  • We will also discuss the important work of the Columbus Empowerment Corporation, which works with central city neighborhoods and stakeholders to assess, plan, finance, and implement high-impact community redevelopment systems and projects.

Host: Michael Bowers is a business consultant and Director of the Ohio Small Business Development Center at Columbus State. Michael works closely with entrepreneurs and business owners assisting them in building their companies. He has a diverse business skill set with experience in banking, private equity, strategic planning, digital media and marketing.
