This special SBDC DAY edition of “Small Business Breakthroughs” will feature Chef Jimmy Michell of J. Mitchell's Spices and Sauces. We will be talking about sauces, spices and all things food entrepreneurship.

Chef Jimmy is the owner of J. Mitchell's Spices & Sauces is a native of Columbus, Ohio where he has served the community as a chef for over 30 years. Jimmy has worked and trained under some of the best Chefs in the state in the fine dining and hotel industries, as well as hospital and care facilities.

Jimmy began creating his original sauces and spices several years ago in his first restaurant when he found that his signature dish needed something more distinctive than what could be found on the grocery store shelves.

Through thoughtful creation and diligent experimentation, the WooHoo Sauce was born. Its popularity grew and before he knew it, Jimmy was bottling and shipping a multitude of original flavors across central Ohio.

Chef Jimmy takes pride in his products by using the best quality ingredients to ensure that each combination brings joy to a wide variety of customers. Every unique sauce and spice he creates reflects his passion for cooking and delicious flavors.

Prior to dedicating his life to the spices and sauces industry, he owned and operated CJ’s Carryout Restaurant and J&Y Catering in Columbus.

Moderator: Michael Bowers, CBA - Director, Ohio SBDC at Columbus State Community College

Michael is a Business Advisor and Director for the Ohio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Columbus State Community College. The primary focus of the SBDC is to support prospective and existing entrepreneurs as they seek to start and grow businesses in Central Ohio.

Michael holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Finance from the University of North Alabama and a Master’s in Public Administration from The Ohio State University. Michael is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Public Administration from Liberty University.

Michael has worked with entrepreneurs and small business owners for over 30 years, 20 of which have been in Columbus leading the SBDC. He has a diverse business skill set with experience in banking, private equity, strategic planning, leadership, and public sector management.

Michael is the lead instructor for the Basis of A Successful Enterprise (B.A.S.E) business startup training, as well as the host of the Small Business Breakthroughs YouTube series.
