Nov

2026
Thu, Nov 5 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Ohio SBDC at Lorain County Community College The Richard Desich Business and Entrepreneurship Center (DEC)
Topic: Government Contracting

Join us on November 5th for a collaborative workshop co-hosted by the SBDC, Lorain County Veterans Services Commission, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), APEX Accelerator, and Lorain County Chamber of Commerce. Learn how veteran-owned small businesses can thrive and access the contract opportunities they deserve. Federal certification opens doors for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) to compete for sole-source and set-aside contracts across the federal government, while Certified Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs) gain specialized opportunities through the VA’s Vets First program. This presentation will detail the essential steps required to navigate the certification process, tap into local technical assistance, and position your business to compete in the federal marketplace. Stick around after the presentation for an open Q&A session and dedicated networking with regional business support leaders. Note: While the primary focus is on Veteran Certification, anyone interested in learning about federal, state, or small business certifications is welcome to attend!
